"Tuffies"

These little pink flowers grow in the most unusual places - places where nothing else will grow - in caliche' hillsides, in the cracks in the roadside pavement, in rocks and gravel that make up the shoulders of the highways and interstates. I've tried more than once to dig one up and get it started at home, but my flower beds are "too cushie". Apparently, they live on rocks, hot sun and air!! Don't know their proper name but because of their stubborn demeanor, I just call 'em 'Tuffies'.
