Follow The Leader

These are only some of the geese that have taken up residence at the River Road Park. Folks who stop to picnic along the Cibolo Creek or even try their hand at fishing will almost always share their food with the local ducks and geese. In 1979, the gaggle started with one male, the gander, and 2 females, the geese. Supposedly, they mate for life and both parents help care for the young goslings. Right now, there is an over-population of geese, but attempts to relocate them hasn't worked. They always fly back to the park, beg for food, stop traffic and give people like me a chance to take some pictures, up close and personal.
