Three years ago, I planted a trumpet vine for my hummingbirds. But the neighborhood deer thought I had planted it for their dining pleasure. As it grew, they kept it trimmed and it never bloomed. Each year it tried again and each year they pruned it down again. But, this year, I guess it had finally gotten tough enough, or the deer had enough food elsewhere, that I finally had blooms. Here is the first shot of the first bloom.
