Buzzard Roost

It seems that the buzzards (commonly known as 'turkey vultures') have found a high, safe place to roost. Around dusk each evening, you can drive to the out skirts of town and see buzzards flying in and getting settled for the night on their favorite cell tower. Obviously, this picture only shows a small portion of the tower, but we counted over a hundred birds before we gave up and drove on. I would hate to be an unsuspecting passerby walking beneath that tower when the birds are there!

I have noticed that the buzzards seem to prefer the towers as a roosting place. I wonder if they are attracted to them because of a sound we can't hear, or maybe there is an energy emanating from the tower that pulls them in. What ever it is, the towers do attract the buzzards by the hundreds.
