An Elusive Dream

Once, when I was a young girl living at home with my parents in Boerne, Texas, I saw the most beautiful bird perched on a fence post. After it was gone, I was not even sure that I had really seen it. I had no idea what it was, but always hoped to see it again. Then it happened. Here, at my home, he visited my feeder. By now, I had learned that he was a Painted Bunting, and was a real bird, and not a figment of my imagination. He has been coming for about 3 years now, and I have tried without success to get a picture. He is very skittish, so the slightest movement, even from behind a window in the house scares him away. All I have photographed was a blur. But finally, I got a good photo. It is not a professional shot, but his beauty still shows through. His wife is a pale sage green and I will post her here as well as soon as I get a good shot of her. I hope you get the chance to see one of these in reality.
